Have you ever wondered why Rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal? We have this ingrained in our memory since childhood that the Rhododendron is our national flower, but why? How? When? It's even surprising that our curiosity about this very topic was never jolted.  Rhododendron (locally known as "Laliguras") was officially declared the national flower of Nepal on February 1, 1962 ( 2019 B. S). By the late King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah.  Rhododendron was chosen because it simultaneously embodies Nepal’s natural geography (Himalayan flora), cultural resonance across communities, aesthetic distinctiveness, and practical benefits for nation-building and conservation, making it a unifying, native, and symbolically rich national flower.  It grows to a height of 20 meters as it blooms in astounding red, pink, or white flowers.
